Free Walking Tours in Chemnitz

Every Saturday, the Free Walking Tours invite you on a special tour of the city: charming, authentic and with a personal touch. The tours are organised on a voluntary basis, are free of charge, non-commercial and open to everyone.

Dedicated volunteers show their very own view of Chemnitz. You can experience (favourite) places off the beaten track, insights into the city's history and anecdotes from everyday life. You can also pick up the odd insider tip.

When and where does it start?

Every Saturday, both a German and an English-language tour are offered.

  • German tour: 10.30 am.
  • English tour: 11.00 am.

Meeting point is the Hartmannfabrik (Fabrikstraße 11, 09111 Chemnitz), opposite the Hartmannhalle, by the statue "Sleeping Horse". Please arrive about 10 minutes before the start.

Registration is not necessary, you can just turn up and leave at any time. Groups of five or more people are asked to register by email: freewalkingtourc@gmx.de.

All further information can be found on the website and on the Instagram channel.

First tour was a complete success

The first tour on 5 April attracted 70 participants from all over Germany. From families with pushchairs to 56-year-olds travelling alone or young adults - every age group was represented, reports a tour guide. Demand was so high that four groups were guided through the city at the same time. The guides mastered this challenge with good humour and flexibility.
