Last Saturday, the market square in Lößnitz was a showcase for creative hands-on activities, digital technologies and real craftsmanship. Starting with a communal breakfast, where - in keeping with the motto "Lößnitz serves up" - jam, cakes, bread, spreads and much more were shared, over 25 stations invited visitors to try out, discover and exchange ideas. The offerings ranged from 3D printing and robotics to printing techniques and upcycling. Companies and associations from the region presented the programme. There was sewing, threading, gluing, handicrafts and much more - a day full of ideas, encounters and creative energy. Live loop music artist Konrad Küchenmeister rounded off the day. The Saxon State Minister for Culture and Tourism Barbara Klepsch was also a guest at the Erzgebirge Maker Festival . A total of 750 visitors came to Lößnitz.
The festival is organised by the civic initiative Lößnitz MAKERS - diemacherei. The initiative runs an open workshop in its Makerhub, promotes media skills and organises cultural events in the town. After stops in Zwönitz and Schneeberg, the Makerfestival Erzgebirge is now taking place for the third time. As a travelling format, it highlights creative potential in rural areas and is set to continue beyond 2025.
The Makerfestival Erzgebirge is part of the Capital of Culture programme and is funded by the Chemnitz 2025 main project Makers, Business & Arts which builds bridges between creative makers, art, business and tourism.
