48-Hour Cooking Marathon
A delicious community weekend full of creative cuisine
Makerhub NETZ-Werk Neukirchen is a kitchen for everyone. Known for its deep-rooted traditions, the region's mountain cuisine is reinterpreted using influences from all over Europe. Subtle flavors combine with Scandinavian simplicity and the rustic depth of Eastern European cooking traditions to create an exciting culinary journey. Experience chefs from Europe as they transform local ingredients and traditional recipes into contemporary delicacies in the creative spaces of the NETZ-Werk Neukirchen, a former car dealership.
The 48-hour cooking marathon combines taste, community and creative culinary art over three days. During the cooking marathon, participants chop, stir, taste and chat together. The former car dealership was converted into a maker hub as part of Chemnitz 2025. It is becoming a culinary meeting place for the Ore Mountains and beyond.
A special highlight of this year's cooking marathon was the 5-course menu à la ‘Ore Mountain Cuisine’ on 16 August. Star chef Benjamin Unger conjured up Ore Mountain cuisine on the menu and gave traditional dishes a new shine.
The evening was rounded off musically by singer and zither soloist Thomas Baldauf.
