Chemnitz School of Garage

Sustainability, the sharing economy, and a culture of repair have al­ways been part of life in the garages of Chemnitz. But such words would not have been used to describe it back in the GDR days. Today these approaches are the answer to resource shortages and social polarisation. The Chemnitz School of Garage connects hobby makers, garage experts, artists, designers, architects, and scientists with young people from Europe and Chemnitz to translate the co-creative po­tential of the garage into the present. Workshops, talks, and a summer course will focus not only on sharing knowledge, but also on the social aspects of the garage complexes, collective decision-making, and fair participation in the city.
