The large carpet, which has been created in a series of workshops since September 2024, will be presented to the public on 18 October at 18:00 in the #3000Garagen exhibition. Together with Kati Hyyppä and Sabine Hochmuth, the WollBine, over 200 people have worked on it and created a textile with more than 300 motifs made of wool and yarn that shows Chemnitz from different bird's eye views.
The real and imaginary elements of the city were created in collaboration with many associations and initiatives - including Ukraine-Haus, UndoYarn, Lila Villa, Big Table, Inspire - as well as with visitors to the Capital of Culture who joined the workshops.
It all began in a garage in Chemnitz, where Sabine Hochmuth has set up her wool workshop - a place that regularly opens its doors to the neighbourhood and interested parties.
Vernissage: 18.10., 18:00-20:00
Opening hours: Saturday to Tuesday from 12:00 to 18:00
